When to replace your furled leader

A furled leader is designed to be durable and withstand numerous fishing sessions even the whole season if they are cared for. Sadly even the best materials wear over time.

It is generally best to replace or retire your furled leader when you notice significant fraying, thinning, or loss of elasticity, which can affect its strength and presentation on the water.

Additionally, if your leader no longer holds its shape well or has sustained any damage from abrasions, overstretching, or prolonged exposure to sunlight, it's a good indication that it’s time for a new one.

Regularly checking for wear will ensure optimal performance and prevent any unexpected breakages during critical moments on the water.

Follow this care guide and invest in a good leader holder made from sustainable material like our solid beech furled leader holder treated with linseed oil, the eco fishing kit option!
